The Journey

Introducing K'la Soul: An Empowering Voice in Music

D.C. native and singer-songwriter K'la Soul is a beacon of vibrant energy and empowerment in the world of music. With a unique blend of R&B and Pop influences, her soulful vocals have the power to melt hearts and inspire minds. Drawing comparisons to esteemed powerhouses Lauryn Hill and Ms. Jill Scott, K'la has consistently challenged the boundaries of her vocal prowess and songwriting skills.

From an early age, K'la's journey in music began as she lent her voice to the church choir, directed by her mother, Karen LeCounte. This foundation paved the way for her ongoing journey in the world of performance and artistry. Throughout her childhood and pre-teen years, K'la's talent blossomed through various outlets, including Children of the Gospel, PG County Honors Chorus, the Duke Ellington Youth Summer Intensive, and even prestigious institutions like the Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington, D.C.

At Duke Ellington, K'la found her passion for vocal performance nurtured under the guidance of her long-time vocal coach, Mr. Edward Jackson. His mentorship and K'la's determination led her to Columbia College Chicago, where she majored in Vocal Performance and embraced music technology. Despite facing financial challenges that brought her back to D.C., K'la's spirit remained unbroken. She found her way to event curation and background vocals, even securing a role singing on WHUR-FM 96.3 Radio station and performing at the White House three times during President Obama's tenure.

K'la's captivating performances extended to renowned stages such as the National Black Caucus, NAACP events, and even before Former South African President Jacob Zuma. Her dynamic presence and commanding voice have left an indelible mark on every stage she graces.

In 2014, seeking greater opportunity and exposure, K'la ventured to New York City. It was there that she unleashed her creative energy, recording and releasing her debut mixtape "Finally" in 2017. This milestone ignited a series of international opportunities, including her participation in Paisley Park's Battle of the Bands and a European tour with the "La Bella Voce" ensemble.

Amid her global journey, K'la's talent garnered recognition, with a particularly special moment in Florence, Italy, where she was awarded the "Angel Medallion Award" by The Vatican. K'la's undeniable dedication to her craft and unique voice led to an invitation to headline Aarhus Festuge in Denmark in 2022.

K'la's passion for music and creativity knows no bounds. She serves as the creator of "Super Vibes Productions," a platform that offers paid opportunities to independent artists. Through Super Vibes, K'la's commitment to creativity, event curation, and content production shines, enriching the artistic landscape.

Ever a trailblazer, K'la Soul's musical journey is marked by accolades and achievements. She graced the White House as a Black History Soloist during the Obama era, performed at the Rockefeller Tree Lighting, and took the stage at Carnegie Hall for a poignant solo performance during the Juneteenth Celebration.

As K'la Soul sets her sights on the future, her unwavering dedication to her artistry remains steadfast. From creating thought-provoking music videos to venturing into new territories, her spirit of self-sufficiency and limitless creativity continues to shine brightly. Currently working on a Visual Album slated for release in 2024, K'la Soul's journey is far from over, promising even more groundbreaking contributions to the world of music and the arts.
